About 5052 Aluminium

It is Al Mg alloy. Magnesium is the main alloy element in 5052 alloy, which is the most widely used antirust aluminum. This alloy has high strength, especially fatigue strength: high plasticity and corrosion resistance, can not be strengthened by heat treatment, good plasticity in semi cold work hardening, low plasticity in cold work hardening, good corrosion resistance, good weldability, poor machinability and polishing.

 

Aluminum magnesium alloy also contains a small amount of manganese, chromium, beryllium, titanium, etc. In addition to a small amount of solid solution, most of the manganese in the alloy forms mnal6. The effect of chromium in 5052 aluminum is similar to that of manganese, which can improve the resistance to stress corrosion cracking, improve the strength of base metal and weld, and reduce the tendency of welding crack, but its content is generally less than 0.35%.

Process performance

(1) formability

① The hot process plasticity of the alloy is good. The forging and die forging temperature is 420 ~ 475 ° C, and the hot deformation rate is 80% in this temperature range.

② The cold stamping property is related to the alloy state. The cold stamping property of annealed (o) state is good, followed by H32 and H34 state, and H36 / h38 state is not good.

(2) welding performance

① The alloy has good properties of gas welding, electric arc welding, resistance welding, spot welding and seam welding. There is a tendency of crystal crack during TIG welding. The brazing performance is good, but the soldering performance is poor.

② The strength and plasticity of the weld are high, and the strength of the weld is 90% ~ 95% of that of the base metal. However, the air tightness of the weld is not high. 5A03 alloy is recommended as solder to improve the air tightness and eliminate the tendency of cracks.

(3) machining performance

The machinability of the alloy in annealed state is not good, but it is improved in cold work hardening state.

 

About the production requirements of the surface for 5052 Aluminium

1. Cracks, corrosion spots and traces of nitrate are not allowed on the surface.

 

2. Peeling, bubbles, surface roughness and local mechanical damage with depth less than 8% of the nominal wall thickness of the defect location are allowed on the surface, but the maximum depth of the defect shall not exceed 0.5mm, and the total area of the defect shall not exceed 5% of the total area of the plate.

 

3. The supplier is allowed to polish the profile longitudinally until the surface is smooth.

Applications for 5052 Aluminium

It is used for manufacturing aircraft fuel tank, oil pipe, sheet metal parts of traffic vehicles and ships, instrument, street lamp bracket and rivet, hardware products, electric appliance shell, etc.
